Master Joiners Apprentice Awards 2026
Caleb King has taken out the 2026 Master Joiners Apprentice Award for Best Fitment Over 2 Years with this standout reception and storage fitout project.
The project showcased a wide range of traditional joinery and modern manufacturing skills. Caleb was involved throughout the build process, including dressing solid timber, working with glue-lam components, and creating custom bullnose radius tops and shelving. The project also required careful sanding and preparation work before staining to achieve a consistent finish across the timber surfaces.
Alongside the handcrafted elements, Caleb also operated the CNC and edgebander for the cabinetry panels and drawer components before moving into final assembly of the reception desk and cabinetry units.
The finished result combines detailed timber craftsmanship with clean modern construction methods, featuring warm timber tones, woven panel inserts, and custom curved detailing that make the reception area a real focal point of the space.
Winning the Best Fitment Over 2 Years award is a strong recognition of Caleb’s attention to detail, practical skillset, and ability to deliver high-quality workmanship across both machine processing and hands-on joinery. The team at Montage are incredibly proud of Caleb and the effort he has put into developing his skills throughout his apprenticeship.
It is also a great reflection of the knowledge and experience within the Montage team, with many staff contributing their time, support, and expertise to help train and mentor Caleb along the way.
